MITCHELSTOWN GAA NOTES
Mitchelstown Edged Out By Charleville
Mitchelstown 0 13
Charleville 1 11
Mitchelstown were knocked out of this year’s Championship by a very determined Charleville side but truth be told
Mitchelstown will be very disappointed that this game got away from them. Charleville settled the better and had the first
score on the 3rd min Town responded with a good score by Mark Keane on the 6th min but then some sloppy play by
Town left Charleville in for a very soft goal on the 8th min Mitchelstown started to get foothold in the game and points
by Brian White and Dylan Price let the score after 20 min 1 02 to 0 4 this was scant reward for the domination Town had
they missed a number of very easy scores and should have been well ahead 2 further points by Charleville late in the half
left the score at half time 1 06 to 0 4 while Mitchelstown will be disappointed at the score it could have been worse but
for a great safe by C O Sullivan in the Town goals. Mitchelstown started the 2nd half very strongly point by C O
Mahoney and further points by Dylan Price and Sean Walsh had Mitchelstown reduced gap to 2 points after 5min of the
2nd half, some fabulous fielding by M Keane in midfield gave Mitchelstown prime possession
in the next 10 min but chance after chance went begging some very poor shooting and bad choices while in front of goal
would come back to haunt Mitchelstown, also to be fair 2 tremendous saves by the Charleville keeper did not help the
cause points by B White and C O Mahoney had the teams level with 10 min to go on the scoreline 1 07 to 0 10 on the 53
and 54th min Charleville went 2 points ahead again but back came Mitchelstown D Price and C O Mahoney had us level
again entering the last 5 min Charleville scored on the 56 and 57th min but Sean Walsh reduced the gap to one after a
shot he took came back of the crossbar and got the rebound and put over the bar to leave one between the sides in the
last frantic min of the game Sean Walsh and the Mitchelstown supporters had taught we had drawn level but the ref
called him back for steps it was a very tight call but maybe the right one,Charleville held on for the win and will now
proceed to the semi-final Mitchelstown will be disappointed they did not advance but with 18 wides and some great
goalkeeping by the Charleville net minder the Charleville deserved their victory to be fair to the Town lads while not on
their A Game they never gave up the fight and battled hard to the end. TEAM C O Sullivan S Doyle L Finn D Farley A
